How to choose
- Session times and days. Many camps run at 6am or 7am, others in the evening.
- Block, membership or class-pack price compared with the number of sessions.
- Class size and the coach to athlete ratio.
- Whether there is a beginner programme or a trial session, and whether coaches adapt exercises for injuries.
- Where it meets, and where it moves to when the weather is bad.
Group training here ranges from early-morning outdoor boot camps in parks and on beaches to indoor HIIT and small coached strength and conditioning studios. Boot camps usually run in blocks of several weeks with a set number of sessions per week. Studios tend to run timetabled classes with a coach and sell memberships or class packs.
Outdoor camps run in all weather, so check what the provider asks you to bring and what happens in severe weather.
